- Lintels are beams provided over openings in walls like doors and windows. Often the term is confused with roof slab of the building and people are heard saying, “Today, Lintel of my house is to be laid.” Lintels bear the load of the portion of the wall and slab above them and transfer it to sides of the openings. Always prefer RCC lintels. Avoid stone slab lintels. Stone absorbs water and its self-weight gets increased if soaked in water. During rainy season, it will keep soaking water. RCC lintels are the best and economical.
